About Sakina
Sakina Design is a family owned and operated business. Our story is typical of many Muslims in the United States. With deep family roots in the Caucasus Mountains and Syria, our ancestors came to America as émigrés-and brought their faith to a new land of freedom and opportunity.
As Muslims in America, we have few options for purchasing contemporary home decorations and gifts that speak to our Islamic traditions and culture. Sakina Design was founded to help fill this need. We provide a resource for Muslim Americans, but also for people of every faith who appreciate the ancient roots of culture and religion.
The name Sakina is Arabic for tranquility or serenity. We hope that our artwork-with a contemporary interpretation of traditional styles-will serve as a true reflection of this term, and will inspire the contemplation, faithfulness, and charitable acts that lead to sakina.
